A haiku a day is a blog essentially dedicated to good food spots and coffee shops. The main focus of the blog is Seattle, giving our views on some of our favorite (and not so favorite) nosh and espresso spots. At the same time, we also get to sample other places when we travel, and report back to you.
I especially enjoy checking out coffeehouses outside Seattle and amercing myself into coffee cultures around the world… ok… around the Pacific Northwest…
And if you have any places you think are great, please post your comments and let us know…

Juan’s which was in downtown Seattle on 4th and Pike under Macys, although I recently have discovered it is NO longer there. Juan’s had the most tasty fresh beans from across the world, it was fair trade coffee and it was a great friendly interactive ( for those blue collar folks). Most people went to Starbucks right across the street, but my friend debbling and I would text about 9:00am “let’s get Juan’s” and that was our tradition for about 1.5 years. She and I still talk about Juan’s.
Another place you do have to go to is the MAD airport (Madrid, Spain). It’s amazing and really has 3 basic cups of coffee espresso, a large espresso, and I can’t recall the name and my mind is bothered about it, but it’s an espresso shot over ice or plain and you put about 1 to 2 tablespoons of condensed milk. Without out words, just imagine the sweet with the taste of fresh coffee beans. I don’t know how some people can’t even imagine this. You will NOT find frappo or any blended drinks, although if you order a hot chocolate it literally is thick molasses like chocolate and it’s enough for four people, and you dip your pastry in it. It’s amazing when you leave the country what tasty treats they have and different types of coffee. It’s been a while and I need to start traveling.
